Forgotten Delaware made a rare trip outside of Delaware to visit the New Jersey side of the Delaware Bay to look for the remains of the site where railroad cars, goods, and passengers were moved across the Delaware Bay by the New Jersey Southern Railroad and the Smyrna and Delaware Bay Railroad. While there is not much to be found at Woodland Beach, Delaware our visit to Bay Side, New Jersey turned out to be very worthwhile.

Upon arrival at Bay Side we quickly found pilings from the old piers used by the railroad. We were very excited to see these are still in place and quickly took some photos. We also realized that the dirt road we drove in on was built on the right-of-way used by the railroad. Click any photo for a larger view. We decided to walk down to waters edge and what we found next was both exciting and incredible. Click here for Bay Side page #2.
