The tug Brian McAllister still works the New York Harbor.

The tug Teresa McAllister can be found working the Delaware River. Special thanks to David Boone who has supplied these three photos and the following information on the history of these Wilmington built girls. Visit his website at www.tugboatpainter.com

The Teresa McAllister and Brian A. McAllister were built at Dravo in 1961 on speculation, and were bare-boat chartered to Moran Towing and Transportation Co. in New York for a year. The Teresa was named Marie S. Moran, and the Brian was the Margaret Moran. They worked in New York harbor, but Moran was not happy with there performance. Turned back to Dravo, they were bought by McAllister Towing of New York and re-named. The Teresa was placed in their Philadelphia fleet and has worked here since 1962. After a 40 year reign here, she is the longest operating tug on this River under the same name. The Brian has worked at various McAllister operations up and down the east coast. She is presently working in their New York harbor fleet. The photo shows her in 1996 at Portsmouth, VA. in 1996. The one of the Teresa at the bow of a white-hulled ship sailing from the south side of Pier 84 South in Philadelphia was taken in 1962. The other was taken last year off Penns Landing, Phila. The particulars of each are as follows: Teresa. official number 285087, gross tons 223, net tons 151, length 93.6', beam 27', molded depth 14.2', 1,600 HP. Brian, official number 285265, 195 gross tons, 132 net tons, same length, beam, depth and HP as Teresa.
