The Reading Railroad operated a great little branch line called the Kentmere Branch just outside of Wilmington, DE. The line served the black powder plant (Hagley) and research facility (Experimental Station or Henry Clay) operated by the Dupont Company and the large Bancroft Textile Mills. Smaller customers could also be accommodated at team tracks located at Kennett Road and Newbridge. The line had some great features like a small three track yard, an underpass at Route 52 it shared with a creek, a man made tunnel, a reverse move into the black powder yards, team tracks, an ancient little station at Newbridge, and a giant textile mill. Come along for our tour as Forgotten Delaware finds out what is still there and gives you an up close look at what you might have driven by a thousand times without knowing it was there.
