Near Millside, Delaware two railroad bridges carried the Pennsylvania and Reading Railroads over the Christiana River. Now only one is used and not very often. The bridge on the left is the former Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) bridge now owned by Norfolk Southern (NS). It was known as "Bridge 2" back in the PRR days. The right photo shows the Reading Railroad bridge which has been out of service for 20 years or more. Click either photo for a larger image.
The Pennsylvania Railroad bridge was turned to clear the channel with steam powered engine. The boiler and engine are still in place and are very interesting. Click any photo for a larger image.
Nearby the former Dravo Shipyard cranes are visible.
